Adam Samuelle is the son of Michael Samuelle and Elena Vacek, the product of a long-term deep cover mission to eliminate his terrorist grandfather, Salla Vacek.
After the elimination of his grandfather, Michael's mission ends with his "murder" and he is forced to leave his family behind. The belief that Elena might have been involved with the death of her father causes Salla Vacek's former organization and brother to seek out Elena. To protect her, Section One relocates Adam and his mother and puts them into hiding, where even Michael is unaware of their location.
When Michael and Nikita are captured by Section One after their escape, Michael urges Nikita to find Adam after his cancellation and look over him. She is the only one he trusts with the responsibility.
After a drunk driver kills his mother, Adam is put in a foster home by Section One for several months. When The Collective discovers his existence, they capture him for leverage against Michael. Operations is killed while attempting to rescue Adam. Adam is successfully rescued when Phillip Jones trades himself to The Collective. Michael takes Adam into hiding to raise him and help him recover from these traumatic events. Michael vows to Nikita that once Adam no longer needs him, he'll return to her.
