Joel Surnow (born December 18, 1955; age 69) served as show runner for the series La Femme Nikita under the title of "Executive Consultant". Surnow was also a director on La Femme Nikita during the third through fifth seasons of the series. He is credited with directing 3 episodes of the series.
Many of the individuals who worked on La Femme Nikita also worked with Surnow on previous shows that he was a part of.
Along with Robert Cochran, he created the television series "24", which ran for eight seasons on FOX. The series won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series in 2006. Several La Femme Nikita alumni also worked on that series.
