Jon Cassar was a Malta born, Canadian director on La Femme Nikita during all five seasons of the series. He is credited with directing 14 episodes of the series, the second most of any other director. This also includes the series premiere and all subsequent season premieres. He was nominated in 1998 for Best Direction in a Dramatic Series for the episode Gambit at the Canadian Gemini Awards

He worked with La Femme Nikita executive consultant Joel Surnow on his following series, '24'. As part of the producing team of that series, he won a 2006 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series as well as individual achievement for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. That same year he won the Directors' Guild of America award for Dramatic Series - Night.

He has directed episodes of Criminal Minds, Fringe, Personal Interest, and Law & Order: Organized Crime.

Cassar is a graduate of the Radio and Television Broadcasting program of Algonquin College, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Along with actors Nigel Bennett and John Kapelos, he is a co-founder of the Motion Picture Industry Charitable Alliance, which between 1997 and 2007 hosted an annual charity auction, "Lights, Camera, Auction" of television and movie memorabilia.

He had two cameo appearances on La Femme Nikita. The first in season two's New Regime as a restaurant patron and season 4's View of the Garden as a rocket launching terrorist.

Cassar directed one episode of the CW's Nikita, season 3's "Reunion".

Jon Cassar participated extensively on the special features for the La Femme Nikita DVDs that were released between 2003 and 2006. This includes recording commentary on cancelled scenes from the series, the season one featurette "Section One Declassified: The Making of La Femme Nikita", and an introduction to the season five internet teaser.
